Happy Anniversary Thistletop!

This year is the 50thAnniversary of Thistletop, and the Ten Year Anniversary of Thistletop Inn. Thistletop has made it’s mark along the way; winning awards in the ranks for iconic Inn destinations. So many of you, our guests, have enjoyed this fifty-year-old property. Anniversaries, Honeymoons, retreats, music events, and gatherings have created shared experiences that filled the halls and rooms with laughter and good memories.

How do we keep transforming a little-known stately home & musical artist sanctuary into a best kept secret? We have learned from you, our friends, what is most important and lasting in your quest for a fine Inn experience.
We are preserving what matters most… the tranquility and comfort in a natural setting, framed with fine amenities. The lasting motifs of hospitality will remain; part of a new, better experience.

Instead of waiting to see what changes, we let time take it’s course. We look at one another and realize we need to listen to the voice that tells us to make a getaway mean something good. Stay at Thistletop Inn, in the near rolling hills of Goodlettsville and open that summer novel you’ve waited so long to read.

Welcome back to Thistletop Inn. Our self-catered cottages bring you to your happy place.

We would love to see you!

HITHER AND YON
OH, NASHVILLE! We can hear the heartbeat of your Lower Broadway… the train car rumble of your Gulch…the painted sky above rust-gold columns of The Parthenon…the solemn quiet of The Hermitage…the hoofbeats that echo among the trees at Belle Mead Plantation…and the ghostly sound of long rifles at Mansker’s Fort and The Bowen House.

We can hear the claps and footsteps resound in The Ryman Auditorium , (the Mother Church of Country Music)…and at The Grand Ole Opry. We embrace the quiet at The Frist Art Museum. .. and The Tennesse State Museum.

*The following is a a post from January 2020 that may be a sort of a postcard of how, at it’s height before the Pandemic, the variety of attractions shine their bright lights in the sky to invite all to Nashville.

NASHVILLE MUSEUM HOPPING & CELEBRITY SPOTTING 2020
In town, the music from the Honky Tonks on Lower Broadway and Second Avenue is beckoning as popular artists lend their names, as well as celebrity status to brand their saloons and restaurants. Pop-up celebrity appearances and excellent food have patrons lined up at the doors. From a recent article: Alan Jackson-  AJ’s, and also ACME FEED AND SEED. Blake Shelton – OLE RED. Dierks Bentley- DIERKS WHISKEY ROW. Luke Bryan- LUKE’S 32 BRIDGE. Jason Aldean- JASON ALDEAN’S KITCHEN AND ROOFTOP BAR. Brian Kelley & Tyler Hubbard of Florida Georgia Line -FGL HOUSE. John Rich, of Big and Rich- REDNECK RIVERIA. Gavin DeGraw and Joey DeGraw- NASHVILLE UNDERGROUND.

It keeps getting better, as more superstars are present and accounted for: JOHNNY CASH MUSEUM, JOHNNY CASH KITCHEN AND SALOON. PATSY CLINE MUSEUM. GEORGE JONES MUSEUM, THE GEORGE JONES BAR AND SMOKEHOUSE.  BB KING’S BLUES CLUB. ERNEST TUBB RECORD SHOP. And soon, a new Roy Orbison Museum!
Somewhat away from the crowds, find Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys- BARISTA PARLOR. Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon- ADELE’S. Holly Williams WHITE’S MERCANTILE, and H.AUDREY. Kix Brooks- Arrington Vineyards

Locals as well as travelers see, from time to time, major artists leave their performance stage and appear at one of the above destinations. Lucky for many, much is captured on cellphone videos and appears on YouTube.

At the end of the day, the “must see” that spotlights it all is the…………………
COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM. Check their website, because their mission is to keep Country Music alive; and nobody can do what they do better. They are called the “Smithsonian of Country Music”.   With 350,000 square feet, it includes a 776 seat CMA THEATER, HATCH SHOW PRINTS, ongoing exhibits and galleries, retail stores, and, (located on Music Row, called the “Home of a Thousand Hits”)
The HISTORIC RCA STUDIO B, (c1956)  Where over 18,000 sessions were recorded, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places…where ELVIS PRESLEY (recorded over 200 songs), ROY ORBISON (left Sun Records to sign with Fred Foster and record many of his major hits there) , DOLLY PARTON (the spot where Dolly hit the side of the building in 1967 is still there), WILLIE NELSON, WAYLON JENNINGS, CHET ATKINS, MARTY STUART, CONNIE SMITH, JERRY REED, JIM REEVES, CONWAY TWITTY, DON SCHLITZ, PORTER WAGONER, ROGER MILLER, THE EVERLY BROTHERS, JOHN HARTFORD, EDDY ARNOLD, BOBBY BARE, JIM ED BROWN,FLOYD CRAMER,CHARLIE DANIELS, SKEETER DAVIS,DONNA FARGO,FRED FOSTER,DON GIBSON,MICKEY GILLEY,BOBBY GOLDSBORO,BILLY GRAMMER,GEORGE HAMILTON IV, HOMER AND JETHRO,NORMA JEAN,GRANDPA JONES,HANK LOCKLIN,CHARLEY PRIDE,BOOTS RANDOLPH, HANK SNOW, GARY STEWART, DOTTIE WEST, AL HIRT , LUKAS NELSON, and many others recorded.

…and while we are having fun with lists:EXPLORE FOOD DESTINATIONS
We don’t mean to create some lumbering essay that meanders… what began a few years ago with ten new restaurants per year has become a volcano that erupts over one hundred new restaurants a year. There has never been as much to see and do from your relaxing retreat. It is baffling, but LUNCH and DINNER?
